Vegetable Gardening

Fall is a great time to garden in East Texas . Now is the time to start a luscious fall garden. Mary will share tips on growing vegetable varieties suited to our climate, and recipes, along with harvesting and cooking information. Grow your own and live a healthier lifestyle.

 

KNITTED JEWELRY

Saturday September 18, 1-4

Want to expand your basic knitting skills? Love jewelry, glitz and bling? This class blends both to yield a unique and beautiful piece of jewelry for pennies, perfect for gift giving. Students with basic knitting skills (knowledge of the knit stitch) will create a lovely bracelet from copper wire and beads. In addition, you will learn to make your own unique findings. Earrings and/or pendants, etc will be fashioned as time permits. Bring metal knitting needles in a size 5 or 6, chain nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters if you have them. 

 

Herb Gardening

Saturday, September 25 10:00 -- Noon

Enjoy growing and using herbs in your everyday life.  Fall is the time for planting. Cooking, preserving, harvesting and drying and other applications will be discussed. We will sample several herbal treats at the end of class.

 

Broken China mosaic Birdbath 

Saturday, October 2, 1:00 – 4:30

Sharon Lee Smith   $85

This fun class involves lining a small birdbath with broken china pieces to create a mosaic. The colors and patterns are fun to work with. Dress casually as it has its messy moments.
Each participant will finish a birdbath in class to take home. All materials are provided. We take a 20-30 minute break while your adhesive sets up before you grout. 

 

THE ART OF BREAD AND CHEESE MAKING

Love the smell and taste of homemade artisanal bread from the bakery? Amaze your friends and astound your family! Learn the secrets of making delicious yeast bread in your own kitchen. By the end of this “hands on” four hour class, you will have the tools to make tasty bread and rolls at home and will feast on the warm fruits of your labors!

During “rising time” homestyle cheese making will be discussed and demonstrated. Don’t miss this class…Just in time for holiday baking (your mother-in-law will be envious).

 

 

candy MAKING

Saturday, November 13, 2-4

Kendel Wibbing $20

Just in time for the holidays, learn to make delectable sweet treats for your family and  friends. We will give you tips on successful candy making, taste samples, and make sweets to take home along with recipes. All ingredients provided.
